Wayfind Creative for Rangatahi

We joined forces with Depot Artspace to co-design and deliver a version of their Wayfind Creative programme, specifically adapted for rangatahi. It was a condensed, weekend intensive, rather than a weekly commitment over several months. Participants were able to learn from a large range of professionals and experts in the creative industry; in topics ranging from personal values and branding, to building your own website, to how to manage your finances. "Wayfind Creative for Rangatahi" gave young creatives a space to upskill, and learn how to make their passion for creativity into a sustainable career.

As well as focused learning sessions, we also emphasized manaakitanga and accessibility. Creatives come from a diverse range of backgrounds, and there are often barriers that prevent extremely creative people from attending kaupapa such as this. They could be learning differences, physical needs, or financial barriers. "Wayfind Creative for Rangatahi" came at no cost to participants, we provided food at the workshop, as well as an optional travel stipend. And our facilitators were briefed to the learning and physical needs of our participants, so they could adapt their presentations as needed. This meant rangatahi felt comfortable to show up as they are, and knew they would be able to take part at a capacity that suited them.

We are very proud of the space we created, and the community we engaged with Depot. Shoutout to Catherine and Amy for bringing us on board, and being wonderful collaborators. Ngā mihi to Skycity Auckland Community Trust for the funding support.

Here's to empowering the futures of more rangatahi creatives!
