Event Pathways Programme

A collaboration between Auckland Council, Gavin Downie, and Youth Arts New Zealand (YANZ), the Event Pathways Programme 2023 gave 6 rangatahi Pasifika and Māori the foundational knowledge of working in the live events industry.

“I am hungry to thrive in this industry, where and how ever the journey may take me”

Participants engaged in 10 weeks of theoretical and practical workshops, learning skills such as audio/lighting set-up, stage management, and more. The young people also had the chance to speak with established industry professionals and attend events during Matariki - Te Tau Hou Māori to experience first hand the trials and tribulations of live event planning.

“I gained alot of new knowledge and skills that I will be able to apply in my real life, I also gained alot of new friends and opportunities “

Apart from new skills, participants walked away from the programme with new friendships and connections in the industry, with a keenness to continue their own journey in the arts.
