“The most money I have ever spent on a single transaction crippled me for a few weeks, but I really like to think it paid off. A couple months ago I bought a camera in a bid to ‘find a hobby’ (not my words), and have surprised myself by actually sticking to it.
I’m a visual person with little to no visual talent. I’ve held childhood dreams of acting or singing or performing the thirty-two fouettés to a standing ovation, but a severe lack of pitch, tone or grace has plummeted me back into the world of daydreaming. Writing was my niche, but then I was never satisfied with my ability to verbalise imagery. I was stuck in a rut until I put that expensive full-frame body in my hands. Film photos gave me joy until I had my first set of high-quality portraits projecting on my laptop screen.
I thought it would be fun to minimise words and compose a little portfolio for you to scroll through. Some of these have already been on my Instagram, if you have popped up from there. But I’m really proud of some of these shots, and hope you like them too! I only shoot with the camera, no added gear, and edit mainly in Lightroom, but I am hoping to eventually train myself up a little and invest in a few more pieces!
There’s something about photography that makes me a very happy girl. I know I have a lot to learn, but that’s the beauty of hobbies that my stubborn self forgot. I improve with every shoot and experiment with little fear. But regardless of skill level or originality, this is something that has made me feel so refreshingly happy. Everyone in these photos are beautiful, talented and all-around lovely human beings, and there has been something really special in getting to know new people and reconnecting with the old. If you ever want to shoot or need a new profile picture, please don’t hesitate to flick me a DM! I’m hoping for a non-stop creative summer.”
